XTNS' Domain Namespace System is based on a license with RealNames Corporation and works with their technology which is built in to the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser worldwide. Because Microsoft IE (5.0 and above) is used by over 88% of Internet users around the globe - that's over 360million people - XTNS namespaces can be viewed and used by virtually everyone, everywhere. The XTNS system is essentially the same technical solution used by Verisign/NSI to resolve their Internationalized Domain Names ("multilingual.com" names, etc.).

Unlike some alternatives, XTNS namespaces do not require users to download any special software, nor do they require users to access the Internet via any particular ISP. The XTNS technology is right there on hundreds of millions of desktops worldwide, and works right now.

Because the XTNS system, and the RealNames Technology it is based on, sits on top of DNS as a layer, and is fully compatible with DNS, XTNS's names are safe to use and will promote Internet stability. Also, because XTNS namespaces sit on top of DNS in a complementary relationship, they also form a perfect fit with anticipated extensions and enhancements to the DNS, meaning we permit new functionality over the existing system and future developments.
